Course Content

The content of the course is: (1) The Geneva Refugee Convention, (2) The protection of refugees by the European Institutions and (3) The national protection of refugees.

Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion of the course, students will be able:

• to critically understand the difference between refugees, asylum seekers and economic migrants
• to understand how techniques like pushbacks function
• to come along the system of the Geneva Refugee Convention
• to understand how the European standards affect Migratory flows.
