Course Content
The module’s object is International Criminal Law and more specifically: (1) Institutional Dimensions and Development of International Criminal Law through the establishment and function of International Criminal Tribunals (Nuremberg and Tokyo Tribunals, ad hoc International Criminal Tribunals, International Criminal Court). (2) Core International Crimes (Genocide, Crimes against Humanity, War Crimes, Aggression). (3) Principles of Individual Criminal Responsibility in International Law, Grounds for Excluding Criminal Responsibility and Procedural Issues.
Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of the course, students will be able:
- to comprehend how international criminal justice functions
- to go through the history of international criminal justice
- to analyze how the SC affects criminal justice through the creation of special criminal tribunals
- to analyze the major principles of international criminal justice and compare them to national schemes
- to go through the categories of international crimes.
